Ian Bruce web design & development

background
Ian Bruce used to work full time as a portrait painter until he became rather busy singing in a band. He then found that he was less financially dependent on portraiture and was able to disappear into his studio when he wasn't gigging and experiment without any commercial pressure. He painted and drew for almost two years hardly showing anyone let alone putting it up on his by then redundant website. The work that has been produced in this period is the first body of really considered and laboured paintings and it made him reassess the work that he had done previously.
brief
Ian Bruce came to Nicolas Lavrov Studio with the idea of relaunching himself. He wanted a clean, slick and easy to negotiate website that was structured to represent the timeline from his career as portraitist to the less definable position of now. The ability to see the work in detail was necessary. He wanted to visitor to be able to see the brushwork. He was also developing the idea of a pop-up artist, an identity invented for a particular project in this case someone who specialised in drawing pornography. He needed a way of representing this pop-up artist as being a facet of Ian Bruce.
